How to install webimage site screen capture

Webimage is a site capture that uses webkit render engine, created by Raphael Cruzeiro (raphaelcruzeiro.com).

sudo apt-get install libqtwebkit-dev
sudo apt-get install xvfb
git clone https://github.com/raphaelcruzeiro/webimage.git
cd webimage

qmake webimage.pro
make

xvfb-run --server-args="-screen 0, 1024x768x24" ./webimage http://news.ycombinator.com/ output.png 1024

How to add PNG support to webimage:
You can add this command in webimage source code (snapshot.cpp file), near the JPG save line:
pix.save(*outputFilename, "PNG")

Hints if you are using cygwin:
 * type "qmake-qt4 webimage.pro" instead of "qmake webimage.pro"
 * Run webimage inside windows manager (e.g. twm) instead of xvfb-run

To increase image quality (JPG quality):
Before compiling, edit "snapshot.h" and change "int quality = -1" to "int quality = 90" (this parameter will enhance jpg quality)

If you get this error:
NVIDIA: could not open the device file /dev/nvidiactl (No such file or directory).
Then you need to install "nvidia-current" package.

If you get this error:
/usr/include/qt4/QtWebKit/qwebpage.h:40:7: error: forward declaration of ‘class QNetworkReply’
snapshot.cpp: At global scope:
snapshot.cpp:150:6: warning: unused parameter ‘errors’ [-Wunused-parameter]
make: *** [snapshot.o] Error 1

Then you need to add the following lines to "snapshot.cpp":

#include <QNetworkReply>
#include <QSslError>

---

Unfortunately I was not able to run flash plugin using cygwin, but was able to capture flash correctly with Linux.
To capture flash, you must enable plugins, adding this to snapshot.cpp source:

  page->settings()->setAttribute(QWebSettings::PluginsEnabled, true);

This can be added just before the line "page->mainFrame()->load(url);"

CutyCapt with cygwin

How to install CutyCapt in cygwin:

1) Install "libQtCore4", "libQtCore4-devel", "libQtScript4", "libQtScript4-devel", "libQtSvg4-devel", "xorg-server", "xinit", those are the prerequisites libraries.

2) Run "qmake-qt4" instead of "qmake"
Then "make" (to complie and create CutyCapt.exe)

3) run CutyCapt inside X terminal (run startxwin or startx before running CutyCapt).

To compile CutyCapt, you only need those source files in the CutyCapt directory:
CutyCapt.cpp
CutyCapt.hpp
CutyCapt.pro

To download cutycapt source code run this command:
svn co svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/cutycapt/code/ cutycapt

If you get the error "CutyCapt: cannot connect to X server", then you need to install "xorg-server" and "xinit X.Org X server initializer" (it will install xinit, startx and startwin)

If you get the svg error below (e.g. because you did not install libQtSvg) while compiling with "make", you can remove all references to "svg" from cutycapt source files to avoid the error:

/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-cygwin/4.7.3/../../../../i686-pc-cygwin/bin/ld: cannot find -lQtSvg
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Makefile:97: recipe for target 'CutyCapt.exe' failed
make: *** [CutyCapt.exe] Error 1

I hope those CutyCapt installing instructions work for you!

How to take a site screenshot

Some methods used to take screenshot from a website:

Best method in my testes:

CutyCapt
It uses Webkit rendering engine to capture the web page layout. Works with flesh (parameter --plugins=on). Command line:
./CutyCapt --url=http://ed.conpet.gov.br --plugins=on --max-wait=15000 --out=example.png
or
xvfb-run --server-args="-screen 0, 1024x768x24" CutyCapt --url=http://postbit.com/ --plugins=on --delay=10 --out=example.png

This is the user agent created by the CutyCapt request:
 "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/534.34 (KHTML, like Gecko) Qt/4.8.1 Safari/534.34"

Other methods to capture site screenshots:

* wkhtmltopdf, had to be installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\wkhtmltopdf
It's command line to take screenshot, e.g.:
./wkhtmltoimage.exe --load-error-handling ignore http://postbit.com site-screenshot.png
It works but the problem is that the generated page screenshot file had missing images, missing flash and some layout errors.

* webkit2png.py
Could not work under windows or linux. Maybe works on Mac.
The script gives error message: "Cannot find pyobjc library files. Are you sure it is installed?"

Sites that take screenshots:
snapito.com : "Full length website screenshots" Enter URL and snap to generate full resolution site screenshot png file. It has API to generate screenshot in many sizes.

Site do Sushi Jazz

Vi no site www.haudy.com.br , telefone: (11) 3721-4357 2011-11-23 15:43

oi Velho amigo!!! 2011-11-18 19:27

2011-10-18 21:25
